***MUST BE BILINGUAL IN ENGLISH/SPANISH*** SCOPE: Perform duties to conduct pre-admission and behavioral assessments and diagnoses, determine potential client suitability for agency programs, and plan and implement psychological therapeutic and counseling processes to aid individuals with single or multiple diagnoses, groups of clients and families in dealing with substance abuse and mental health problems, providing services under parameters of designated program and within prescribed setting, guided by precedent and within the limits of established policies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform pre-admission behavioral assessments.Interview potential clients, family and others, review records and consult officials from previous treatment programs to make psychological diagnoses and determination of suitability for agency treatment programs.Work with team or individually develop plan for treatment and rehabilitation of client.Utilize counseling methods, techniques and modalities as adopted by designated program and provide therapeutic treatment for multiple problem diagnosis and counsel clients individually and in group sessions to assist them with mental health issues, chemical dependency recovery program and in modifying behavior.Counsel client family members to assist them in dealing with and providing support for the client.Continually assess client progress and monitor client condition to evaluate success of therapy.Track progress and adapt treatment plans to suit client needs.Refer clients for psychiatric treatment as required.Determine the requirements for urine test to determine presence of addictive substances, order testing, monitor urination for testing and prepare specimen for test processing.Refer clients or families to other support services as appropriate and within the parameters of designated program, such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services and employment services and prepare and maintain required documentation for chain of custody.May routinely provide guidance and leadership to other counselors in assessing needs and determining appropriate courses of treatment or effective techniques for clients within the program as directed by the program director.Complete required forms and make all necessary documentation to client files relating to all counseling content, observations, activities and issues relating to each client contacted.Prepare periodic and special reports relating to work activities and project progress.Prepare documents for presentation in court and accompany client to court as required.Participate in or lead projects involved in program planning and development or curriculum.Perform or manage crisis interventions as required.Demonstrate expertise and knowledge in the application of appropriate modalities, methodologies, approaches and techniques.Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned by management.OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Perform or assist with any departmental operations, under direction, to maintain work flow.Attend and participate in a variety of meetings, staffings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.Ensure safe operating.Conditions within area of responsibility.Perform other related duties as assigned.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Specimen collection materials, computer terminal and common office equipment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master's Degree in a mental health related discipline as well as at least one year related experience in a clinical setting. (Bi-lingual) FULLY FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires complete understanding addiction behavior and related social, psychological,Mental and physical health issues and related counseling techniques and practices. Requires complete knowledge of the organizations related programs, practices and policies as well as rules of documentation and confidentiality. Requires the ability toplan and implement counseling methods, techniques and modalities to suit specific andunique requirements of the Center's clients. Requires the ability to read, analyze andinterpret written information including regulations and effectively communicate verbally and writing where information includes precise date and terminology, possibly of a confidential nature.Requires the equivalent of a master's degree level experience in a clinical setting.Requires the equivalent of a CAP certification involving specifically related work experience of at least three years.Requires the successful completion of testing in the fields of pharmacology, signs and symptoms, rules and regulations, modalities of treatment, theories and dynamics, treatment planning and coordination and human behavior and development.Requires valid State of Florida Driver's license and State required insurance.LOCATION: HOME Program
