Essential Job FunctionsDescription of Job Function1. Curriculum Development & Industry Needs: a. Understands and analyzes the training needs of business and industry; b. Works with employers and Assistant Director on workforce needs; c. Develops and maintains a syllabus and hands-on training that supersedes industry standards; d. Prepares instructional materials for delivery by the implementation coordinator; e. Collaborates with Implementation Coordinator on all materials, books and testing for the delivered programs of study; f. Collaborates with Lab Manager on needed materials and supplies; g. Works with Assistant Director on curriculum to meet industry standards; h. Works with Assistant Director to present all industry programs to Managing Director for approval
Description of Job Function2. Teaches Industry based Curriculum: a. Teaches the depth and scope of the curriculum outlined in the syllabus; b. Relates the program to students on employer based expectations; c. Focus on hands-on skills training needed for student success; d. Provides remedial instruction, when needed for student success; e. Engages students and supports student success beyond the classroom; f. Maintains a safe classroom environment.
Description of Job Function3. Provides Assessment and Placement: a. Coordinates with Assistant Director and Implementation Coordinator the schedule for assessment testing; b. Administers industry specific testing for students success; c. Completes student evaluations for records and tracking; d. Communicates with Assistant Director, Job Recruiter and meets with students who aren't meeting graduation expectations.
Description of Job Function4. Administrative Duties: a. Maintain accurate attendance records; b. Begin and end classes at designated times; c. Maintain classroom discipline and report all misconduct; d. Leave classrooms and labs clean and organized; e. Communicates with Assistant Director and Recruiter on all student issues; f. With assistance of the Assistant Director develop and maintain classroom grading guidelines needs for employers, college and the VA; g. Attend faculty and staff meetings as required; h. Assist students with resumes and work with job placement team for student success; i. Insure that all curriculum, syllabus and program materials are maintained on the S drive.
Description of Job Function5. Professional Development: a. Participate in training and professional development programs; b. Stays well informed on industry trends and directions; c. Communicates new industry developments to Assistant Director; d. Follows department guidelines and manuals on student homework, assessment, grading, and closing out courses.

QualificationsRequired Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Other Required QualificationsIn lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a combination of education and applicable Manufacturing Industry Certifications may be substitutable.

Preferred Type of ExperienceExperience in hands-on Manufacturing.
Experience teaching and training, instructing and mentoring in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Teaching experience at the community college level or work related training experience focused on manufacturing training

General Working ConditionsThis job operates in a professional office environment and throughout the College's worksites and grounds. Within the professional office environment, the employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet and occasionally moderate.

While operating outside of the office environment, the employee may be exposed to elements including but not limited to wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors. The role may also involve hazards or physical risks, which require comprehending and following basic safety precautions and may require Personal Protection Equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to remaining stationary, moving, ascending/descending, positioning self, reaching, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-100 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
