Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Academics, the Middle School Teacher is responsible for daily functions and management of a core knowledge area (ELA, Maths, Science) as well as leading a classroom.

Core Purpose

The role of the specific, single subject-level MYP teacher is to provide enjoying and stimulating educational opportunities with the philosophy and mission of IB at the center of student learning. All teachers are expected to create and implement a curriculum that includes educating the whole student, with a specific focus on the Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning. Hands-on, Project-based Learning is a priority in stimulating student curiosity and achievement. Additionally, teachers are encouraged to create strong relationships with students and parents, immersing themselves in Creation Villages community. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Develop stimulating curriculum to enhance student learning experiences
  • Create nurturing educational environment
  • Work collaboratively within a PLC to implement IB expectations
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students
  • Partner with parents/guardians to help address student needs
  • Foster a positive working environment for self and colleagues
  • Participate in on-going professional development opportunities
  • Teach across various grade levels of MYP (6th grade and beyond)
  • Attend regular staff meetings and PLCs
  • Communicate expectations of the classroom, academic and behavioral, consistently with parents and students
  • Daily experiential project-based holistic learning for students utilizing a variety of media and environments in the school and community
  • Integration of CREATION Health into daily lessons
  • Use of Conscious Discipline for classroom management
  • Development of relationships with parents to empower involvement in their childs learning and in the classroom including schedule weekly classroom communications, parent conferences, and as needed meetings
  • Implementation of report cards, portfolios, grading system, and character-based reporting
  • Implement items from Look Fors checklist
  • Develop a classroom fundraising plan to raise money for events, equipment, and school growth
  • Bi-monthly Town Hall meetings with the families to coordinate, plan, and discuss the classroom, activities, and events
  • Create a Gifted Class program which integrates with students which meets their academic needs providing a challenging curriculum, advanced instruction, enhanced materials and opportunities for growth.
  • Work with students who demonstrate extraordinary academic ability as the gifted and talented specialist.
  • Collaborate and coach regular teachers to build multifaceted instruction strategies for gifted and talented students in regular classes.
  • Develop a private educational program for gifted and talented students that establishes lesson subjects and classroom structure.
  • Initiate the data collection and analysis systems that will recognize gifted and talented students and create a referral and screening process for potential candidates.
  • Collaborate and conference with individual students on their educational plan on a weekly basis and support the learning process.
  • Monitor progress of gifted students by documenting each activity and objective using formative and summative assessments.
  • Continually update parents regarding student goals, progress and area of improvement resource suggestions and enrichment opportunities that fall outside the classroom to parents.

Instructional Framework

  • Actively work with Curriculum framework team to develop rigorous curriculum and outcomes
  • Complete unit plans prior to the unit beginning
  • Actively participate in weekly coaching and preparation sessions for ELA
  • Follow through with Action Plan tasks from each coaching meeting by the due date
  • Complete reflections and/or tasks as assigned prior to scheduled meetings
  • Watch and reflect upon individual instruction
  • Complete at least one professional growth training session directly related to Instructional Framework (routines, procedures, Daily 5, Guided Reading, etc.)


  • Collaboration with the administrative team to create an integrated education experience throughout Creation Village
  • Build community partnerships to further classroom activities and
  • Lead cross-curricular planning for integrating the CKV Garden into lesson planning


Bachelors degree or higher in the educational field

Relevant teaching experience in Middle School (3+ years preferred)

Knowledge of past teaching experience in IB MYP (preferred)

Demonstrated record of reliability in previous employment

Ability to adapt to new technology

Flexibility in the classroom and with colleagues


Physical constraints required include the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, the ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses, to speak and be understood under normal circumstances, to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds, and the use of arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including the evacuation of the building during emergencies.
