Job Description Job Description As part of a design team, the
responsibilities of the Structural Designer are to support
engineers in preparing construction documents using Autodesk Revit
and other BIM tools. Designers are responsible for producing
accurate, coordinated structural drawings and collaborating
directly with consultants to resolve issues and ensure project
success. In this role, you'll work alongside engineers and project
managers to deliver high-quality, accurate, and coordinated
structural plans for a variety of projects, including but not
limited to public facilities, commercial buildings, bridges, and
infrastructure. This position is based in AVCON's Orlando, Florida
office. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (may include but are not limited to) :
Create and maintain 3D BIM models for structural systems including
concrete, steel, masonry, and timber. Develop and refine structural
drawings, plans, sections, and details in coordination with
engineers. Update plans and models based on redlines and design
revisions, taking ownership of your work and collaborating with
engineers and consultants to resolve coordination issues.
Coordinate structural drawings with architectural, mechanical, and
civil models to align geometry, resolve model conflicts, and
support project-wide coordination. Assemble drawing packages for
permitting, bidding, and construction, ensuring completeness and
adherence to project requirements. Ensure adherence to AVCON's
CAD/BIM standards, templates, and project-specific requirements
throughout the design process. Organize drawing files, maintain
version control, and ensure documentation is accurate and up to
date. Participate in internal quality control reviews to maintain
consistency and reduce errors across drawings packages. Maintain
current knowledge of design and drafting procedures in specialty
field. Perform other related duties as assigned to support project
and team needs. Nights and weekends are generally not required but
may occasionally be necessary with little or no advanced notice.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent.
Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design
Technology, or related field, preferred. Minimum three years of
experience in structural engineering drafting and design support.
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (structural focus), required.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, a plus. Strong understanding of building
systems, structural components, and construction documentation.
Knowledge of BIM coordination processes (clash detection, model
collaboration, etc.), preferred. Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS
Excel, and MS Word. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILLS Ability
to read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and
specifications. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively
with all levels of employees, management, and clients. Ability to
organize work, set priorities, pay attention to detail, and
follow-up on assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to
maintain confidentiality and protect privileged client information
and documents appropriately. Ability to work calmly and effectively
in a high-volume office environment under pressure of deadlines.
Knowledge of correct English usage including spelling, grammar,
punctuation, and vocabulary. LICENSURE Valid drivers' license and
maintenance of satisfactory driving record. SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES There are no supervisory responsibilities
associated with this position. ENVIRONMENT Work usually takes place
in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting. Site visits
may occasionally take place in an outdoor environment. PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee
is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is
required to sit for long periods of time. The employee is
occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle
or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop,
kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or
move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to
40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include
close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
TOOL/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS As dictated by
client site protocol, candidate will be required to utilize proper
personal protective equipment including but not limited to gloves,
sleeves, leather protectors, hard hats, safety vests, safety
glasses and shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, covers,
helmets/hoods, and any additional tools required for the task at
