Job Description Job Description Senior Accountant Custom Manufacturing & Engineering Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong technical accounting and government contracting experience to support our growing manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting GAAP and CAS compliance, and assisting with audits, forecasting, and financial analysis. The Senior Accountant will work closely with executive leadership to ensure financial data is accurate, audit ready, and aligned with operational goals. What You Will Do Core Responsibilities Prepare and maintain GAAP compliant financial statements and supporting schedules Execute assigned portions of the monthly, quarterly, and year end close process under the direction of the Controller Record and review journal entries, payments, and account reconciliations Perform bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Support accounts payable and accounts receivable operations as needed Maintain and analyze general ledger activity for assigned accounts Generate financial reports, KPIs, and analysis using Excel and COGNOS Government Accounting and Compliance Apply Cost Accounting Standards in daily accounting activities Track, allocate, and monitor direct, indirect, and unallowable costs Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for DCAA audits and incurred cost submissions Support external auditors and government personnel during audits and regulatory reviews Assist with WIP, inventory, overhead, and G&A rate calculations Ensure compliance with GAAP, CAS, and applicable federal and tax regulations Controls, Documentation, and Process Improvement Maintain audit ready documentation and accounting support files Follow established internal controls and identify control gaps or improvement opportunities Document accounting procedures and support continuous process improvements Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Provide guidance and informal mentoring to junior accounting staff What You Bring Three or more years of accounting experience with hands on general ledger responsibility Experience in a manufacturing and or government contracting environment Practical working knowledge of CAS and DCAA compliance requirements Strong background in cost accounting, including regulated and allowable cost structures Experience supporting audits or incurred cost submissions in a government contracting environment Experience preparing or supporting WIP, inventory, overhead, or G&A calculations Hiring Process Note As part of our selection process, candidates who advance will be asked to complete the Predictive Index Cognitive and Behavioral Assessments.
